This is to let you know of the death of my husband Senior Country Member AC0516 Peter Young. Peter had a full career after learning to fly at the Aero Club 1966-68. He flew for Tim-Air Charters, Tanzania, then joined Air Kenya Nairobi in 1971, and East African Airways in 1975, flying DC3. He was with Kenya Airways for ten years as Captain flying F27, DC9, B707. After a brief time with Ligne Aerienne Seychelles, he joined Singapore Airlines and flew Airbus A310 until retirement in 2000. He passed away peacefully in hospital in Ireland after a long illness, and will be missed by family and friends. Sincerely, Vivien Young
Sad to hear that Frank Orpin passed away this morning of Monday 6th July 2015 in hospital in Bournemouth. Frank worked in EAA Engineering from around 1965 to 1973, then moved on to MAS in Kuala Lumpur. One of the few to hold Airframe, Engine and Electrics licences.
Frank caught the spirit of East Africa during those seemingly carefree days of sun, sea and safari and these became a regular source of fond recollections during these recent times of failing health. Kwaheri Rafiki, RIP.
